Mayflor Farms

About Us

Mayflor Chokshi

Mayflor Farms grew from a seed of an idea in 2013. At its heart, you could say that our love of farming was something we inherited. With our roots in lush India and the rice fields of the Philippines, a childhood that spanned Pennsylvania Amish country and a need for open spaces thanks to the presence of a very fluffy Great Pyrenees… Mayflor Farms was a long-held dream that finally became real.

Our desire is to practice a style of farming that is respectful of nature and tries to improve the ecosystem in which we thrive. We practice regenerative and biodynamic techniques and avoid the use of industrial or commercial techniques.

May’s favorite aspect of the farm is enjoying its cycles of life and its microcosmic communities — whether that means watching the insects pollinate the wildflowers, the birds lay their eggs amongst the pumpkins or the bats swooping down in the evening.

This place is a little piece of our heart, and we hope it finds a home in yours. Thanks for stopping by!

Alex Mari Berry

Alex Mari Berry is an interdisciplinary artist and art educator originally from Seattle, Washington but has spent the majority of her life in the metro Atlanta area. She has a deep love for all things creative and community oriented. She’s always had a curiosity about growing and a return to living from the land but didn’t start farming until right before the pandemic happened. She has been a part of the Mayflor Farms crew since Fall of 2019 and originally learned the organic practices of preparing the soil, shaping and turning over beds in preparation for a new season. She is continuously learning and now also assists in many aspects of farming including seeding, planting, maintenancing and harvesting for CSA and markets. She hopes to keep building a foundation for sustainable practices while learning about her cultural roots through Filipinx and Asian vegetable growing at Mayflor Farms. Outside of farming, Alex has a studio art practice at an art collective called The Bakery in Atlanta. On days that she isn’t farming, you can find her doing art education consulting or working on a new conceptual art piece!

Daisy Hamel

Daisy Hamel has been a key member of the Mayflor Farms team. Originally from the Philippines, she loves to harvest vegetables and has a natural love of cooking fresh meals. Daisy particularly loves working on the farm in the summer season because the heat reminds her of working back home in the Province. Daisy is an organized, passionate and hardworking farmer who assists at the farm by weeding, planting and tending to the crops in the hoophouses. Daisy also works as a secretary at a hospital and still finds time to give positive energy and an upbeat personality at the farm.
